When I hear the word surrender, I automatically feel as though I am giving up my rights and free will—that I completely relinquish all dreams, desires and personal freedom. With God, this is far from true.
God is not looking for robots to mindlessly follow His will. Yet, God lovingly invites us to surrender to His will, so that He can fulfill our desires and make them whole. Giving ourselves in such a way means that we place what God has given us back into His hands, and God graciously shows us that all of His ways are better than ours. He can do more than we could ever accomplish on our own; but, there's just one step. Surrender!
